About SecureTask

Supported platforms: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP.

SecureTask lets you automatically perform some security-related tasks on your computer, such as encrypting files, securely deleting files, and performing system cleanup.  Below you can read the detailed list of SecureTask features.

Encryption
  • With a few mouse clicks you can encrypt as many files on your computer as you wish;

  • You can define flexible search criteria in order to select for encryption only necessary files;

  • With SecureTask you can automatically create strongly encrypted zip-like file archives. You can open such archives and add to or remove files from them. Also you can open and edit files right inside such archives;

  • SecureTask lets you automatically update files inside encrypted archives with newer version of files residing on your hard disk;

  • You can provide for the encryption your own encryption key, which will be used for encryption without any further transformation. Most existing encryption products perform the encryption with a key generated from the user's passphrase. A user does not even see the key that is used for encryption of confidential information. SecureTask makes it possible to perform encryption both with the passphrase and with the key specified by user.

  • You can select to wipe original files automatically after they have been encrypted;

  • You can choose for encryption one of ten encryption algorithms, and one of four encryption modes.

Deletion
  • SecureTask lets you permanently delete (wipe) files from your hard disk, so that their contents cannot be restored;

  • You can wipe any number of files from your hard disk with a few mouse clicks;

  • You can set for each task a separate number of wiping rounds;

  • If you want delete files which are not confidential and need not to be wiped, you can either delete them, or move them to Recycle Bin;

System cleanup

With SecureTask you automatically perform the following cleaning tasks:

  • Deleting all the cookie files residing on your hard disk;

  • Deleting temporary Internet files;

  • Clearing Internet history;

  • Clearing the "Recent Documents" list;

  • Deleting files from the Recycle Bin.

Performing tasks with Wizard

The Wizard allows you to start using SecureTask right now, without knowing any details about working with tasks and custom schedules. The Wizard has the following advantages:

  • The Wizard has an intuitive interface and allows you to know nothing about creating and editing custom task schedule. In fact, the Wizard does not require any additional knowledge or experience at all. If you know what you want to do (for example, to encrypt files in the "C:\MyDocs" folder) you can start using Wizard right now.

  • If you want to quickly accomplish a single simple task, doing it with Wizard is often the most fast and convenient way.

Using custom task schedules

Custom task schedule is a more powerful and flexible means than Wizard to accomplish your tasks. Using custom task schedule has the following advantages:

  • Custom task schedule allows you to create and save any number of schedules with different kinds of tasks, which you can load and execute later.

  • Custom task schedule lets you to accomplish any number of tasks at a time. Using task schedule you can with a couple mouse clicks encrypt and/or wipe files which reside in any number of folders on any number of drives.

  • Custom schedule lets you to use more flexible search criteria for selecting files which should be affected by a task.

  • Custom schedule allows you to perform encryption both with password and with encryption key.
